If this was about this time last year I would never have even thought about how youtube has impacted music stars as much as it has because quite frankly I didn’t give a shit about justin bieber he just annoyed me and I didn’t even know who he was till my friends talked about him. Now on to the subject at hand the reason I now know how much youtube has impacted music today is for one up and coming singer. He is Greyson Chance. This eleven year old boy’s father posted a video of him at a talent show at his middle school. Thank God he did because Greyson actually became the first signed recording artist for Ellen Degeneres’ record company. He actually had sung a cover he wrote himself of Lady GaGa’s Paparazzi song.
I don’t know how everyone feels about him but, he can definitely sing. You can tell from the reactions of the girls in his school to him singing to see how he can sing. I was shocked at how good he was when I first saw him singing. Youtube allows for people like Greyson to be discovered and able to make it out in the music industry it is truly a great way for discovering talent. The day Ellen announced the signing of Greyson, he was actually a guest on her show because of how quick it took to get a lot of hits on youtube. I believe that youtube does kill the video star but, at the same time brings a whole new area of possibilities for undiscovered talent and just the same for talent that is already around to promote their songs through a medium that millions of people search through a day. Greyson Chance is a great example of this.

Ellen always finds talented people on YouTube and makes them famous. I love her and if she likes Greyson Chance so do I!!!
ReplyDeleteI do agree that there is some talent to be found on YouTube. You just have to sort through all the stupid videos first.
